Hunter was born to military parents in Fort Benning, Georgia. His father, Chris, was an army ranger and served in Somalia during Operation Gothic Serpent and fought in the Battle of Mogadishu. His mother, Dana, was an administrative specialist and handled secure mail for the Sgt. Major.
Hunter grew up in LaGrange, Georgia, but relocated Dahlonega, Georgia in 2015 to attend the University of North Georgia. He quickly fell in love with the North Georgia mountains and immediately felt at home in Dahlonega.
After graduating in 2019 with his Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Hunter attended law school in Birmingham, Alabama at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law and enrolled in a dual degree program with Samford University's Brock School of Business. Hunter was granted membership in the American Journal of Trial Advocacy, and is a published member of the Journal.
In 2022, Hunter graduated with his J.D. and M.B.A. Hunter and his wife, Abbie, returned to Dahlonega in May of 2022, where they now live and raise their two children, Anders and Blake, and their dog Finley.
